Veterans are entitled to many other benefits beyond the GI Bill or home loans.

Here are other programs and fun benefits that are available, but not talked about often.

HEALTH CARE

Call or Text Help Line for Women: This confidential service gives women veterans a call or text line for assistance with information about a variety of services and benefits. Lines are open Monday - Friday 8am-10pm and Saturday, 8am - 6:30pm. 1-855-VA-WOMEN (1-855-829-6636)

Benefits for Women: The Center for Women Veterans' (CWV) is here to monitor and coordinate VA’s administration of health care, benefits, services, and programs for women Veterans, family members, caregivers, and advocates.

Enroll in VA Health Care: The PACT Act is a new law that expands VA health care and benefits for Veterans exposed to burn pits, Agent Orange, and other toxic substances. This law helps the VA provide generations of veterans FREE VA health care. Plus, it helps them and their spouses with the care and benefits they’ve earned.

Dental Benefits: If you received a 100% service-connected disability rating or you have a service-connected dental disability, you may receive VA Dental Care. Contact your local VA facility to see if you qualify and enroll. 

If you are not eligible, no worries! You may enroll in reduced cost dental insurance, VA Dental Insurance Program (VADIP).

Paid per Mile: The VA offers travel reimbursement to veterans & caregivers when traveling to approved healthcare appointments. Find out if your appointment(s) were eligible for reimbursement and file a claim.

Housebound Benefits: The VA offers an Aid and Attendance or Housebound benefit that provides monthly payments added to the amount of a monthly VA pension for qualified Veterans and survivors. This benefit helps cover the cost for home health aids or family members providing homecare.

Here are some resources and articles to help you navigate your VA disability claims process.

How to file VA Disability Claims: Here you can file a claim for disability compensation or increase you current disability compensation on your own. If you would like in-person help filing from a Veteran Service Office (VSO), click here to find the closest VSO near you. 
FYI- Current average claim decision time is: 103 days/~3 months.

How to track your VA Disability Claims: Here you can log into VA.gov to track your claim or appeal status. You may log in with your ID.me or My HealtheVet account. 

Disabilities Appear After 1 Year of Discharge: Did you know that some chronic conditions appear within 1 year of being discharged?! You are entitled to file for VA disability compensation for conditions like high blood pressure, arthritis, diabetes, or peptic ulcers. 

FUN CARE

Here are a few places you can find veteran discounts for some fun!

Discounted Event Tickets: Vet Tix secures tickets to sporting events, concerts, performing arts, educational and family activities across the nation. VetTixers can sign up online.

Vacation Deals: Armed Forces Vacation Club is a free membership travel club for active, retired, and veteran military members. There are a host of deals on hotels, cruises, and car rentals.

Free Dining & Discounted Offers: Veterans Day 2024 is Monday, November 11. Check out these special offers such as free meals, car washes, haircut & hotel discounts, and other discounts throughout the year!
